Scientists urged to show excellence in research

"Quest for quality is a continuous journey without limits of space and time. Young scientists should come forward to achieve heights in their fields."This was stated by Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, formervice chancellor, University of Sindh, speaking as chief guest at inaugural ceremony of the 36th three-day Pakistan Congress of Zoology (International) hosted by Department of Zoology, University of Sindh.He said that young researchers should not restrict themselves to books only but meantime they should go for solutions of the problems to be faced by mankind in future."We should work more for producing food instead of more children," he added. Appreciating the role of teachers, Siddiqui said a good teacher leaves tracking behind them and contribute through producing new knowledge for humanity.Professor Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Acting Vice Chancellor, SU, in his presidential remarks, appreciated the efforts of the hosts for arranging this congress for third time at Sindh University campus.He said that this platform provides an opportunity to scholars to share their academic knowledge and experiences. He hoped that congress will achieve its goals and provide guidance for future research in this discipline.He further said that Sindh University is the oldest university of Pakistan which was established after independence, has produced series of leadership for the country and it will continue its journey to serve the country.Professor Dr Nasreen Memon, Chairperson, Department of Zoology in her welcome speech highlighted the objectives of the congress.Professor Dr A R Shakoori, President Zoological Society of Pakistan and Professor Dr Aziz Khan, Secretary also spoke on this occasion while Professor Samina Malik gave vote of thanks.In the ceremony, shields and gold medals were awarded to selected professors in recognition of their outstanding research work in various branches of zoology.Life time Achievement awards 2016, were given to Dr Zahid Baig Mirza, Islamabad; Professor Dr Muhammad Saeed Wagan, University of Sindh, Jamshoro; Professor Dr Afsar Mian, Islamabad; Dr Abdul Aleem Chaudhry, Lahore.Professor Dr Nasreen Memon, University of Sindh received zoologist of the years 2016 award while Dr Muhammad Ansar, Quaid -e- Azam University, Islamabad; Dr Hafiz Muhammad Tahir, Universityof Sargodha; Maria Hussain, University of Punjab,Lahore; Syeda Anila Waqar, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi; Dr Muhammad Attaullah and Dr Syed Muhammad Hassan Mehdi Naqvi, University of Karachi and Miss Mifzala, University of Sindh received gold medals.News SourceNews Collated byPAKISSAN.comCourtesy Business Recorder
