Agriculture department has finalized plan for rice cultivation across the province during 2016-17.A spokesman of the Agriculture department told here on Wednesday that rice crop was cultivated over 4.461 million acres of land in Punjab last year which gave 3.51 million ton rice production.This year, maximum area would be brought underrice cultivation for surpassing the production target achieved during last year.In this connection, growers had been advised to use approved varieties of the rice for cultivation, he said and added that approved varieties of rice were not only disease resistant but also gave maximum yield.News SourceNews Collated byPAKISSAN.comCourtesy Business Recorder
