How To Become A SMART Leader?

One can either, seek to become a better, SMART leader, or make all the mistakes, less successful individuals, consistently perform! Being smart, doesn't mean, being the most educated, intellectual, and/ or, intelligent, individual, in the room, but, rather, using one's experiences, wisely, with quality, expertise, judgment, and wisdom. After, over four decades of involvement, in nearly all aspects of leadership, and leadership planning, from identifying, qualifying, developing, training, and consulting to thousands of actual, and/ or, potential leaders, to serving, personally, as a leader, on numerous occasions, I have closely considered, and pondered, the techniques, approaches, and components, involved. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means, and represents, and what's involved.
1. Service; system; solutions; sustainable; strengths: Know your strengths, and use them wisely, and efficiently, and address areas of weakness! Emphasize implementing superior service to the group, and constituents. consistently! Perceive and conceive of, create, develop, and implement, a well - considered, system, which focuses on viable solutions, in a relevant, sustainable manner!
2. Make mark; mention; motivate; meaningful: A great leader seeks to make his mark, for the better, in the most meaningful manner! Never forget to mention, the help, assistance, and/ or efforts, made by your constituents, and thank them, sincerely, for their contributions! A great leader motivates his stakeholders, not, merely by his rhetoric, and/ or, promises, but, rather, by the quality, and focus of one's actions, and plans!
3. Attitude; aptitude; attention; articulate; assess; assign: Proceed with a positive, can - do, attitude, and considering obstacles, to be challenges, instead of problems! Develop relevant skills, and skill - set, so you possess a well - considered, developed aptitude! Pay keen attention to alternatives, articulate a positive, inspiring, motivating message, and assess the best courses of action! Carefully, assign responsibilities, to the best support people, to make things, better!
4. Relevant; reliable; responsive; realistic: A leader must be optimistic, but realistic, also. He must provide reliable leadership, which is responsive to needs, priorities, etc, in a reliable, effective manner!
5. Time - tested; trends; timely: Combining well - considered, time - tested, techniques (rather than reinventing, the wheel), using relevant trends (wisely), and never procrastinating, are keys to effectively leading! It is essential to pursue the best course of action, in a well - designed, and considered, timely manner!
Will you try to be a SMART leader? Are you up to the tasks and responsibilities?

Leadership: By Fear/ Pressure, Coercion, Empathy, Or Example?

After, over four decades, of involvement, in nearly all aspects of leadership, and leadership planning, from identifying, qualifying, training, developing, and consulting to thousands, of actual, and/ or, potential leaders, I have often, pondered, what makes a leader, more effective, prepared, and ready, for present, relevant, as well as, future, sustainable possibilities/ ramifications. There are many styles, of leading, and, although, there is no such thing, as, one- size - fits - all, I feel it might be helpful/ useful, to consider, examine, review, and discuss, some of these options, such as: using fear/ pressure; coercion; empathy; or, leading, by example.
1. Fear/ pressure: Far too often, some pseudo - leaders, seem to believe, they can only be effective, inspiring, etc, by resorting to using fear and pressure tactics. While, in the immediate, and short - term, this may work, to some degree, in the longer - run, will have the unwanted ramifications of turning - off, others, including existing members, as well as potential future constituents. Leading effectively, means, considering, both, how to overcome obstacles, and address current needs/ priorities, while avoiding ramifications, which might negatively impact, future sustainability!
2. Coercion: Coercion is defined as, the practice of persuading others to do something, by using force or threats. In the shorter - term, using this approach, clearly indicates, a degree of panic, and lack of quality preparation, and, almost always, in the longer - run, creates an overall negative attitude, etc. A true leader doesn't coerce, but, rather, inspires and motivates, those he serves, and represents, by clearly, demonstrating, he is ready, willing, and able, to effectively listen, and learn from every conversation and experience, and proceed with the utmost degree of genuine empathy!
3. Empathy: One can't fake, being empathetic, although many seem to try to! It requires being ready, willing and able, to avoid, the desire, to hear our own voice, but, rather, prioritize effective listening, and learning! When a leader possesses genuine empathy, he puts himself, in the place of those, he serves and represents, and seeks to inspire and motivate his stakeholders, by addressing their concerns, priorities, etc.
4. Leadership, by example: One must realize, recognize, and understand, quality, effective leadership, must be, by example! Others always watch, what a leader does, even when he doesn't realize it! Stakeholders and constituents, become, far more willing to follow, and be inspired and motivated, to be more involved, when they believe in a leader's example. It's what they do, not what they say!
If you hope to be an effective leader, plan accordingly, and be prepared. Learn, prepare, and commit, to doing, what's needed, to make a difference, for the better!

Selling on Social Media Without Driving People Away

Social media is one of the best marketing tools out there: you can grow and reach a large audience with content and ads, and people who like and/or follow you are your fans, so they're already your target group.
However, people can be resistant to selling on these platforms. They see sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as places to share content and interact with friends, families-and nowadays, brands.
You really have to approach this the right way or you could alienate your audience, causing them to unfollow or unlike you because they expect a two-way conversation and engaging content, not to be marketed to.
It's also important to clarify that social selling doesn't mean advertising your product or service online for people to buy.
Social selling means you're using social media to connect with sales prospects and nurture relationships to hopefully convert them into customers.
For example, I recently did a Tea Time Tip about things that you need to consider before you start building your website. People could comment and asking questions in real time, and the Facebook Live had a lot of information about hiring a professional web development company.
So, I wasn't simply talking at people to hire us for their website-building needs; I was sharing pertinent information and nurturing those leads who might be looking for a company to help them out.
Now that we've defined social selling, let's discuss what you can do to increase your odds of success:
1. Think relationships, not dollar signs.
Make sure you're posting relevant, non-sales content. You want to become an expert resource in your industry, so focus on adding value to your users' feeds.
According to a study performed by LinkedIn, buyers who are active on social media welcome input from industry experts. In addition, 76% of buyers are ready to have a conversation with potential providers.
Get to know your potential customers by asking them engaging questions, answering their questions in a timely manner and responding to comments. The more trust and loyalty you build, the better your odds of converting a follower into a paying customer.
Read: The Power of Social Media Storytelling
Once upon a time your strategy was probably largely focused on sharing links to third-party content with your audience. Well, those days are over, and if you want to stand out in the crowded and noisy online environment, you need to focus on content marketing storytelling.
2. Take the time to build out your accounts.
Make sure that your bio and profile are filled out on all the platforms you want to use for social selling. You should include your website URL, About Us, phone number and any other relevant contact info.
It can also help to pin relevant posts, make sure your branding stands out and have high-quality images to attract followers' attention. Again, this builds trust and loyalty, making people feel more comfortable and secure doing business with you.
See how one of our clients, A Family Law Firm, has taken the time to not only fill out their contact info, but also the "Our Story" section on Facebook.
3. Choose your messaging wisely.
What works on one platform may not work on another. Where do your potential clients hang out? Where do they talk business, or go for restaurant recommendations? Generally:
* LinkedIn is more business-focused, so people are more comfortable with marketing messaging there.
* Twitter has a great search function, so you can more easily connect with prospects, and find relevant topics.
* Facebook has many communities that you can join and network in (remember, don't be pushy!)
* Instagram and Pinterest is for visuals, not long content pieces.
By tailoring your messaging for each platform, you'll be more likely to attract the right kind of customer.
4. Let user-generated content sell for you.
You don't have to do all the work of social selling alone! There are so many ways to use user-generated content (UGC) to your advantage, including:
* Contests and giveaways that encourage followers to share your content, hashtags and/or messaging.
* Ratings or reviews for your product or service
* Testimonials
For example, J.Crew posts user ratings and reviews on their website, so when they post a dress or shirt on their social media account and someone clicks on through, they see other people's votes of confidence.
Not only does user-generated content help you, but it helps your customers. Almost 80 percent of people say that UGC drives their purchasing decisions. It's a win-win situation!
5. Try, test and try again.
Every business owner should be tracking and measuring their efforts, whether it's a digital Newsletter push or a Google AdWords campaign. Look at your data and stats to determine what's working and what isn't.
Maybe people are being referred to a page on your website from your Facebook post, but they're only spending a few seconds on it.
You need to look at why that is: is your messaging unclear? Boring? Is there a broken link? By tracking your visitors' paths, you can see where you need to take a closer look.
Google Analytics is a free tool you can use to measure your website statistics, and there are also paid tools out there that can help you break down and understand your data.
The more you test and tighten your social media selling attempts, the better your ROI will be (and the happier your followers will be).
While social selling is different than traditional methods, it's still about building relationships and credibility. Focus on the person behind the platform, not on converting them into a sale or guiding them down a marketing funnel. Take the time to build connections and you'll create a community of prospects who will welcome hearing from you.

Harvest the Thoughts of the Distant and Dead

Believe it or not, you have a superpower.
One that few folk throughout history have had.
Those who shared this power enjoyed a tremendous advantage over those who didn't.
They could access information from other times and places - information they shouldn't have been able to learn.
These heroic few - of which you are a member - could learn faster and open their minds to new ideas. They could absorb the wisdom of the ages in moments... or spend a lifetime reflecting on it.
This superpower cannot be underestimated. Without it, your life would be radically different.
It's the ability to talk to anyone in human history. Well, not anyone. They had to meet certain conditions first. If they did, though, there's no stopping you.
Even if they live on the other side of the world.
Even if they speak a foreign language.
And even if they died centuries before you were born.
Sure, it's not perfect. It's a one-sided conversation. If you have a specific question, you have to hope they'll answer it.
Still, that's not nothing. If you couldn't do that, you'd swear it was a miracle.
So what is this unnatural ability that defies time and space?
This superpower is nothing short of the art of reading.
Before you scoff and say how 'normal' that is, remember you live in a privileged age. For most of history, only the wealthy could afford education. Something as simple as reading was beyond the realm of the working class.
And don't scoff at what reading does for you.
Everything I said above, and more.
I've read the works of Marcus Aurelius, arguably the greatest Roman Emperor in history. He died thousands of years ago and we shared no common language. He couldn't understand my life - the fact I'm writing this on a keyboard alone would stretch his imagination.
Even so, he understood enough to enrich my life in deep ways.
I could have a one-sided conversation with him, thanks to him writing down his thoughts.
And thanks to folk keeping those thoughts alive.
And to others for translating them into modern English.
Plus, the Internet deserves some credit for delivering it to me.
It's a team effort.
And a momentous effort it is.
It'd be a shame to waste it, huh?
I call reading a superpower because it lets you expand your knowledge. The fact that knowledge can come from so many folk, from almost any time in history, adds to its power. Without that, it's still powerful enough.
I invite you to find a book that challenges you.
That stretches your intellect.
That pushes you to the limits of who and what you are.
Something that adds to your skills... and to your wisdom.
You're reading this, which (all humility aside) is a good start.
But don't stop here.
You can begin that simple self-improvement technique now.
And enjoy its benefits for the rest of your life.
If you really want to take your mind to new places? To improve more you dreamed possible?

5 Startup Lessons They Don't Teach You in College

After graduating, the next thing we like to do is partying and celebrating the victory. However, nobody will tell you that challenges are actually on the other side of the college life. Nowadays, every youngster wants to be an entrepreneur, but you know what? Your degree can give you an opportunity to enter in the corporate world but your skills make you survive. In college, you learn what is given in a syllabus, but if you want to be an entrepreneur, there are few things they don't teach you in college.
Let's find out the lessons you may not learn in college
1. Deal with Failure
A leader fail many times before he succeeds! Every entrepreneur faces failure once in a lifetime but this is not the end of a life. Failure is a continuous process and with every failure, you can make your next move is a successful one. However, nobody will teach you in college how to prepare for failure or for not getting a job. This is something you learn in outside world when life tests you. In a corporate world, failure is a very normal thing but how you deal with it make all the difference!
2. Raise Money
Raising money for a startup is not a piece of cake! Its paperwork is very complex. The banks and investors expect you to submit a detailed business plan that describes everything about the product from how it works to how it will generate revenue. Further, you can consult a financial planner for accounting and tax advice. As it will help you to negotiate with investors and banks. Nobody will teach you how to convince someone to invest in your business. No worries! Skills like convincing power develop with every attempt.
3. Think out of the box
Often in school, we get a syllabus for every subject. However, outside the school, in a corporate world, ambiguity rules. If you don't have the courage to try something new, you will never come up with something unique. In a competitive world, if you want to lead in the industry, you need to think out of the box. In the end, being innovative and creative is the key.
4. Become a Leader
Being a good leader is not everyone's cup of tea! A leader wears so many hats and handles so many responsibilities on his own. Every entrepreneur is not a leader, but every leader can become an entrepreneur. However, you won't learn how to be a great leader in school or college. In the journey of life, your lessons and failure will tell you what it takes to become a great leader.
5. Manage your Time
In college, you are a free bird, you can enjoy leisure time any day. However, that won't happen in the corporate world. To run a successful startup you are going to work for 24/7, no matter how tired you feel. So, when your friends are enjoying happy hour, don't feel upset about preparing a business plan. In the end, it is all about priority, its OK to sacrifice few things to achieve bigger goals.

Wooden Shed - Perfect Additional Room

Sometimes wooden sheds lack adequate space to hold in all the things that you want to store in them. It is at this point that building an additional room begins to make sense. Not only does it give you extra space but it also prevents you from having to incur costs when buying or building a bigger shed. Here are some quick steps to creating an additional room.
Step 1: Planning
You must figure out the size that you need. It is always best to build an additional room big enough to anticipate future needs so that you don't end up needing more space shortly. Other than space requirements, there are other things that you need to consider.
Local regulations
Find out what the regional zoning laws are and get the necessary permits for your construction. It is essential that you understand the building code requirements in your region to avoid legal trouble.
Examine the building site
Before you start building, you must figure out whether any environmental hazards can occur during construction. Get a professional to inspect the property for any drain pipes or electrical lines that you could run into in the process.
Plan your project
Once the site is clear and you have the legal papers at hand, you can start working on a drawing. The size of your sketch will determine the materials used as well as the time spent so be sure to look into this. Also, indicate where the additional room will lie adjacent to your current wooden shed. The design of your roof should be such that it can withstand weather elements such as snow and rain.
The foundation
Though an additional room is often small in size, it must have a foundation for stability purposes. Its strength affects the strength of your shed so go for materials such as concrete blocks.
Materials
There are tons of materials that you can use in construction. One good example is lumber which is not only strong but is also available at a reasonable price. Other choices include composite sidings and cementitious boards. Based on your drawing, calculate the number of materials you require and buy the goods.
Step 2: Preliminaries
This stage is quite simple, and you can handle it without the need for professional help.
Map out the construction site
Start by clearing any vegetation that will be a hindrance during construction and level the soil. If you wish to have an earth floor in your additional room, you can leave the site as it is. If you want to construct a level, then compacting the soil is necessary. Be sure to use a flooring material that can withstand weather conditions.
Digging holes
Next, with the use of your building codes and drawing, drill holes for the support posts. Keep the load of the rafters and weights on the roofs in mind as you dig the holes. Also, ensure that the outer wall of your additional room lies parallel to your wooden shed so that placing rafters will not be cumbersome.
Placing the posts
Using a sledgehammer, drive the shed posts into the ground. You can use wooden stakes alongside the boards to help you ensure that the posts are straight. Using a plumb at this stage is also necessary. Once the shed posts are in place, pour some concrete in the holes for added support and leave it to set for at least twenty-four hours.
For a temporary room, you can opt to use dirt to fill the post holes. Next, use a line level to help you mark a bench elevation on the posts. This marking will help you figure out how much load the rafters can bear. Place notches on top of the posts such that the supporting joists will lie on the notches before you connect the beams.
Place the supporting joist on the notches in readiness for the rafters. If you wish to have any purlins in your shed, now is the time to attach them to the posts. Ensure that you nail everything before moving on to subsequent steps.
Step 3: The Roof
Your roof must be sturdy to withstand weather elements, and as such, you must take great caution in its construction.
Fasten a supporting joist
Just as you did on the posts, nail on a supporting beam on the part of the shed where the upper end of the rafters will be. If you are attaching the wooden joist to a metallic building, using a self-drilling screw is prudent. Ensure that the beam is secure as it will bear the weight of the roof and framing. Next, place the rafter spacing on the upper and lower joists.
Laying the roof
Start by determining the angle of the roof by stringing a line from the upper rafter to the lower one and use this pitch to cut the timbers. Place the beams in position and nail them onto the joists before laying out the spacing for your lathing. Sometimes, it is necessary that you cut part of the existing roof so that the new roof can fit underneath it. If you do so, remember to use metal flashing to prevent water leakages in the future. You can now place your roofing material on the lathing and fasten it in place.
Step 4: Completion
You now have the skeleton of your structure and can now work on installing partitions in the additional room, doors, flooring and exterior walls. Pay attention to the materials that you choose as they will affect the durability of your structure. Also, be sure to fasten each item in place.
Step 5: Finishes
Start by ensuring that the building is up to code and check for any unfastened fittings. Watch out for any exposed metallic corners and roll them to ensure that they cannot cut someone walking past. You can then clear up the site, put your tools away and clean the room in readiness to move in.
Getting an additional room is as simple as five simple steps which will leave you with adequate room for entertaining, storage as well as any other desired purposes. What's more, it's very cost-friendly.

Aches, Pains, Chronic, Acute, Or More?

In our every - day lives, we all, experience, days, when we feel, better, and, others, where we may be, a little, under - the - weather! Are these regular, anticipated, aches and pains (which nearly everyone experiences, from time, to time), or something, far different, and, perhaps, potentially, dangerous? How can we differentiate these, and prepare accordingly, in order to enjoy life, to its fullest? Are these ailments, chronic (occur much of the time, and/ or, always), acute (relatively fast, unexpected onset, and generally, more severe and/ or, debilitating), or something, somewhat more serious, and needs immediate medical attention? Don't try to diagnose yourself, unless you have earned a degree! Begin, by carefully, and thoroughly, discussing with a trusted, health professional, get a regular, periodic check - up, and proceed, wisely, and carefully, Traditional medicine, often, becomes even more effective, when considered, including a wellness approach. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, these concepts, and hopefully, let you proceed, in the wisest manner, for your personal needs and requirements.
1. Consult health professional: Whenever you become concerned, by any symptom, condition, etc, begin, by visiting a trusted, health professional. Explain your concern, undergo a recommended check - up, and examination, and effectively, listen, to the advice, you receive. If it's not a medically, life - threatening, serious condition, and/ or ailment, discuss alternative approaches, and whether, they might help, somewhat. If the ailment is more serious, do not procrastinate!
2. Chronic: Chronic ailments, and conditions, are those, we suffer from, on a continuous basis. Often, there are a variety of approaches, and it is wise, to address, not only the symptoms, but the causes. The healthier you feel, the happier, and healthier, you will be, and proceed!
3. Acute: Sometimes, we experience acute pains and/ or, ailments. When this happens, be certain, it is not indicative of a serious condition/ ailment. Often, acute pains come from something we have done, which causes stresses and strains, such as lifting, over - doing, athletic injuries, etc.
4. More: Never self - diagnose, but, if a doctor, says, your condition is nothing serious, then, you might consider, taking advantage of wellness approaches, and treatments, such as acupuncture, medical massage, etc. In addition, certain alternative remedies may help, to reduce aches and pains, or, at least, significantly, minimize their impacts.
Take care of your health, be aware, and you'll be glad, you did! Will you be wise, when it comes to taking the best care of yourself?

Stuck, No Options?

We have an epidemic! People everywhere feel stuck in their jobs. Some feel like they have no options to get unstuck. Unhappy at work, they know they are not passionate about what they are doing. Yet, many are unsure of what would make them feel excited to get up and go to work in the morning instead. They know they need to make a change or at least feel motivated to make some changes. However, moving away from what they are doing to some unknown doesn't feel right either.
So if this sounds like you, what options do you really have?
  1. Don't jump ship, just yet - The worst thing you could do is quit your job to try and "figure it out". Without a plan, this approach rarely ends well. Unless you have lots of money, you may be forced to take any job and potentially end up in a worse situation than you were in to begin with.
  2. Do your homework - Get to the root of what's making you unhappy. Is it the company, the work, the people? Or is it you? Maybe, you lack the confidence or the skills to do the work. Perhaps, it's the commute you dislike or the lack of flexibility. It's important to identify the elements that you most enjoy, the things you really dislike, and the items that you are okay with. No job is perfect, so there will always be some amount of compromise.
  3. Connect to your "WHY" - I love facilitating transformation and change in people. And while making a difference in people's lives is my life's purpose, I recognize that there are many jobs and professions that would have allowed me to serve and live my life's purpose. I chose to become a "coach". Others may have chosen to become teachers, counselors, managers, change consultants, etc. Life purpose is not necessarily a job or a career, but rather, how you show up.
  4. Get clear on what's most important to you - Values shift over time. So what was important to you when you started your career, may not be important to you any longer. Take inventory of what is really important to you now and prioritize the list. You may find that providing a nice lifestyle for your family is number one on your list, perhaps higher on the list than career satisfaction. If that's the case, it may keep you in a job or career that you don't love until such time as the kids grow up or you've saved enough money. As your priorities shift and change, so do your choices and options.
  5. Get the right support - It's not always easy to be objective when it's personal. Getting an objective third party perspective can be very helpful. Enlist in a good mentor or coach to help you "figure it out" and get you on the right path.
  6. Set a plan - While the decision to change can happen quickly, sometimes there are many steps involved in the process. Identifying what steps to take before you take action will save you time and angst in the long run and give you tremendous clarity.
  7. Take action - Take the first step, no matter how small it is - move towards what you want. Before you know it, you will have made major progress towards what you want.
You probably have a lot more options available to you than you might realize. It's not always easy to see them for yourself when you are stuck. Start by getting unstuck. And if you need some help to get unstuck, contact a professional coach.

Smile a Camouflage of Joy And Misery

What is seen is a reality, but not the truth. This statement has volumes of facts camouflage in a smile. Realities establish the facts and phenomenon, but the truth becomes the prefix of reality. People in every walk of life experience upheaval passing through roller coaster of happening within their lifespan. The events are either happy and joyous or misery and hurting. The depth of joy and pain are important and relevant to the relationship of affected persons. The consequential events are directly proportional to the individual's relationship and circumstances of happenings. It is essential to dive deep into the reasons that lead to the core concept and the ground reality of happenings.
Those who learnt the art of reading smiles understand the facts that various forms of smile reflect different meanings. The reality and truth of smiles both subjectively and objectively indicate the personality of a person. Why it is important that people smile to show their status of happiness or sorrow. It is not totally in people's control to show or hide their feelings and emotions. The reason which is debatable is that it hurts an individual more when he covers up his grieve and pain by smiling in-front of those hurt them most. Sometimes it is just by compulsion and sometimes deliberations to expose their hidden emotions and feelings distinctly.
Anthony Euwer an American poet, admired by former US President Woodrow Wilson, has beautifully penned down the following Stanza:
"No matter how grouchy you're feeling,
You'll find the smile healing.
It grows in a wreath,
All around the front teeth
Thus, preserving the face from congealing."
If you analyze the logic and reasoning behind smile when you meet another person face to face, it would show the truth behind the reality of smile. It is said that, "The part of the brain responsible for mirroring is called the inferior frontal gyrus, which sits above your temple towards the forehead. There are many reasons and causes of smile, however, the observer should take into considerations of the persons involved and prevailing circumstances. This "emotional mirroring" is one theory of emotional perception and the subject of much psychological research. And, like all body systems, things can go awry.
It is safely deducing that you may not arrive at the conclusion substantially, yet the line of reasoning and evidence distinctly point in the direction of facts and phenomenon. It is, therefore, established that facts and the phenomenon will be revealed no matter how much you suppress them or conceal them behind façade of deception and ignorance. There are many adjectives added to the word, a smile which is appropriately coined as idioms to deceptive smiles. The study of smiles is a part of gelotology, psychology, and linguistics. And it may be good to know that scientific word for a "real smile" is "Duchenne Smile" which is named after physician Guillaume Duchenne who first recognized the muscles involved with this smile.
It is proven beyond reasonable doubt that forced smiles have convincing reasons to establish its sanctity within the context and meaning. It is written that forced smile works, because the smile is as disingenuous as the "crocodile tears." The tears aren't coming from real sadness; this smile isn't coming from true happiness. Regardless of motive, the smile is not a reflection of how the smiling person feels.

The Necessary FOCUS Of A True Leader

Why is it, so many people seek, are elected, selected, and/ or ascend to, positions of leadership, but, very few, actually, end up, becoming relevant, quality, effective, meaningful, true leaders? Does it seem to you, few of these individuals, seem to take office. prepared, ready, and with a meaningful, relevant plan, rather than merely embracing the supposed, perceived glory and power of holding some office, and/ or their personal/ political agenda, and self - interest? Wouldn't it make sense, for every new leader, to take a period, from the onset, to fully examine needs, goals, etc, and create, a well - considered, action plan, which offered viable solutions, and direction, to make the organization better, etc? Don't we deserve leaders, who proceed, with the FOCUS to serve stakeholders and the organization's best interests, and are willing to expand the limitations of their self - imposed, comfort zone, rather than proceeding, with the same - old, same - old, irrelevant ideas? With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly review, consider, discuss, and explore, using the mnemonic approach, why doing so, is meaningful, and significant.
1. Faithful; future; fruition: When one seeks a clearer focus, he must make certain, his priority, is based on faithful service and representation, rather than any personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest! Only when one constantly, consistently, looks to the future, and determines needs, goals, priorities, relevance, and sustainability, will his plans, be worthy of bringing to fruition!
2. Options; open - mind; organized; opportunities: True leaders consider various options and alternatives, with a genuine, focused, open - mind. He must do so, in an organized, efficient manner, so he recognizes opportunities, and seizes any, which will make the most difference, for the better!
3. Character; clarity; cooperation; create: One's focus and priorities, generally indicate his true character, and we need leaders with the quality of character, to proceed, with keen clarity, and seek to create, the best, he can possibly do! To do so, the individual must focus on cooperation, rather than polarization, and unifying, rather than creating adversaries!
4. Useful; usable; urgent; urge: Unless one prioritizes useful suggestions and actions, he won't focus, as he must! Great leadership requires usable ideas, and actions, and differentiating urgent issues, from the petty stuff! Will you be ready, willing and able, to articulate a message, which urges others, to join you in your quest?
5. Suggestions; stakeholders; service; sustainable: Are your suggestions, viable, as opposed to empty rhetoric and promises? Will your stakeholders, both actually, as well as perceive, and believe in the quality and direction of your service? Unless/ until, the emphasis is on relevance, as well as well - considered, sustainable solutions, you won't become a quality, meaningful leader!
Do you have the necessary FOCUS, a true leader needs? Are you up to the task?
