Pulses' import up by 45.27 percent

Country's pulses import shot up to $217.564 million in July-November 2015-16, increased by 45.27 percent, official statistics said.Pulses import increased by $67.799 million in July-November 2015-16 from $149.765 million in July-November 2014-15, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics mentioned.Pulses import volume scaled up to 363,579 metric tons in July-November 2015-16 from 245,458 metric tons in July-November 2014-15, up by 48.12 percent or 118, 121 metric tons.In November 2015, country's pulses import surgedby 25 percent or $7.44 million to $37.296 million from $29.856 million in November 2014.In term of quantity, pulses import grew by 31.30 percent or 15309 metric tons to 64,214 metric tonsin November 2015 from 48,905 metric tons in November 2014.Pakistan depends on Australia, Burma, Tanzania and Ethiopia for its pulses import to satisfy about 0.6 million metric tons demand for the commodityevery year.News SourceNews Collated byPAKISSAN.com
