Sunflower growers advised

The Punjab Agriculture Department has advised the sunflower growers to start sowing their crop inSouthern Punjab from January 01.Central Punjab from January 15 and in Northern Punjab from February 01. In an advisory issued here Tuesday.The department said that sunflower seed bears 40 per cent oil of higher quality and farmers can make Pakistan self-reliant in edible oil by promoting sowing of this important oil bearing crop.It said that Pakistan at present import 70 per cent of its total requirement of edible oil by spending huge foreign exchange.News SourceNews Collated byPAKISSAN.com
